| Sailing The Suns Rays [32/140] Title: Sailing The Sun's Rays Catalog Number: SF-67B Caption: In 1913 in a book called On the Waves of the Ether by B. Krasnogorskii the author describes a solar sailing ship. The spaceship, intended for a flight to Venus, is called The Victor of Outer Space. It is built in the form of a small, central gondola surrounded by an enormous circular mirror. It will fly through space by the force of the sun's radiation impinging upon this mirror. Steering will be accomplished by changing the angle of the mirror relative to the direction of the sun. Mirrors fully deployed and exposed to the propelling force of the suns rays. |
