Caption:
Two crew members venture outside the space station on a repair mission. The space work capsules they are skillfuly maneuvering are designed to allow them to safely remain in space for up to ten hours. Dubbed the "Coke bottle," the capsule protects against bullet fast meteoric dust; it can be maneuvered by jet nozzles at top and bottom. Mechanical arms, similar to those which handle radioactive material, are used for work outside the ship.

Below the the repair party, the SS-1 a 250-foot wheel-shaped space station slowly rotate three times a minute to produce an artificial gravity for the crew. The outer rim is used as living and working quarters for fifty crew members. The inner section or hub is used as an approach to the station through an air lock. The large spokes are elevator shafts and the small pipes are used as condensers for the turbo-generators and air conditioning plant. The turbo-generator supplies the station with electricity through heat given off by an atomic reactor.
